Some dogs don't do so well with wooden dog houses (or wooden anything) as if they are left in their doghouse or tied nearby for a while, some breeds--especially younger dogs under a couple of years--will chew on the wood. I have a golden retriever that chewed his dog house (wooden) to pieces, then he started on the plastic roof covering! I've seen nice metal dog houses too, and they're pretty chew-proof. At night tho they have taken to jumping on the bed with me and we all sleep on the same bed its a litle crowded but we manage. Smile of course they are small dogs. He is on a strict diet but he finds more food outside. We live on 7 acres so he does get plenty of exercise chasing and playing with the cats and running all over the place.
